The sole proprietorship in the Netherlands is a so-called “Eenmanszaak”. For a start up business with low turnover it can be a good choice.
What is an “Eenmanszaak”?
An eenmanszaak is the simplest legal business form in the Netherlands. It’s owned and operated by one person, though you can hire employees. It’s ideal for freelancers, consultants, and small business owners.
How to Register
Once you have a business plan of your future operations, you need to register your eenmanszaak with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK). Here's how you can do it:
1. Prepare Your Details
2. Make an Appointment
3. Visit KvK in Person
4. VAT Registration
5. After Registration
In some cases it is more efficient to register a limited liability company instead of sole proprietorship. If you need further advice or support, feel free to contact AZ Corporate.
